The First-Level Master’s Program in European Affairs and Policies (MEAP) is an undergraduate-level academic program designed for recent graduates who want to build a career in European institutions and in the international context. An interdisciplinary pathway that combines theory and practice, featuring high-level faculty, interactive activities, project work, and internship opportunities.

Programme Overview  

The Master in “European Affairs and Policies” (MEAP) is a University study programme, designed for graduates & junior professionals, aiming to build a successful career in the “EU Bubble”. 

MEAP is co-designed and co-organised with the Department of Economics and Management of the University of Parma. By combining solid academic foundation with a practical and applied approach, the programme offers a comprehensive and interdisciplinary pathway covering governance, law, and the main policies of the European Union. Students will engage in a dynamic and stimulating environment, interacting with university professors, senior officials from European institutions, and professionals from across Europe.

Academic Experience and Opportunities  

The programme provides valuable networking, internship, and career development opportunities, preparing participants to work in European institutions, international organisations, public administrations, NGOs, and the private sector. Upon completion, students will have both in-depth knowledge of European affairs and practical skills, along with an international mindset enabling them to actively contribute to Europe’s future. 

Academic Recognition  

MEAP is acknowledged as equivalent to a year of the Master’s Degree in Global Politics and International Relations of the University of Parma. Thanks to a partial credit recognition earned during the programme, students can fast-track their academic journey while building on the knowledge and skills already required throughout the master. 

The Master grants 60 ECTS and is offered in a blended format, combining on-campus sessions with online learning. This approach allows students to benefit from face-to-face interaction whilst enjoying the convenience and accessibility of digital learning. Students can thus enroll in MEAP and then continue their university career within the second year of the Master’s Degree in Global Politics and International Relations of the University of Parma. 

Duration and Structure  

Lectures – Blended Format: November 2026 – April 2027 

Traineeship Period: May 2027 – September 2027  

Total Workload: 

  • 240 hours (Courses, Seminars, Workshops) 
  • 250 hours (Internship) 
  • 125 hours (Project Work)

Hands-On Learning

In addition to the core Modules, the programme includes advanced English and Italian language courses (for international students), designed to strengthen communication, interpersonal, and professional skills in multicultural environments. 

Teaching Methodology  

The programme adopts an innovative and practice-oriented approach, combining theoretical lectures with interactive activities. Students will take part in: Case studies, Simulations, Project WorkThese activities foster critical thinking and the development of transversal skills (teamwork, public speaking, time management), while providing concrete understanding of the decision-making processes within European institutions. 

Study Visits  

A hallmark of the programme is the Study Trip to the European Institutions in Brussels (Commission, Parliament, Council, etc.), offering participants firsthand insight into EU decision-making environment and direct engagement with key stakeholders. 

The programme also offers other Study Visits to companies and organisations, providing networking opportunities and connection between academic learning and real-world practice.

  • Graduates in Political Science, International Relations, Economics, Law, Foreign Languages, Humanities or related fields 
  • Young professionals eager to become key players in the European arena 
  • English pre-intermediate required (B1)

Fees and Scholarships  

The program fee is €4,500, (in three installments), plus a €16 university matriculation fee due upon enrolment. 

How to Apply  

The application deadline for the “Master in European Affairs and Policies” (MEAP) is 15th October 2026 at 12:OO noon (CEST). Candidates will be able to submit their applications through the University of Parma’s online platform, ESSE3.
